Spaceship Model Two.
I was given the task of creating the 2nd spaceship model for the game. I started by mapping out the main body of the ship and then started the extrude and pull the faces to get the shape I wanted.
This design was not ment to have much detail as it was going to be seen from a top down view from far away.
I started by only modeling the top half of the spaceship. I then thought about adding a cannon that would fit within the wing.
I mirrored the model to see if it was looking right.
Once i was happy with the main body of the ship I started to merge the front of Space-Ship One onto the front of my model. I used the front of the ship i already modeled to do this.
to get the bottom of the ship o mirrored the ship again but underneath this time. as the bottom would not be seen I thought this would be the quickist and easyist way to get the ship done. (at this point We were starting to run out of time as the coding was taking much longer than we all anticipated).
In the end I did go over the bottom of the ship and flatten it to reduces the number of tris.
The image below is of start to finish.
I used these images to show my team what i had done. this model had 5370 tris in total.
we decided that I could reduce the amount of tris by optimizing the ship. After I did this it took the number of tris down to 3276.
I then thought it would be a good idea to add a material colour to the ship to decide what colour to do it. We all liked the white, black and purple ones, but we thought the white would be to similar to the players ship and the black one would be to hard to see within the game. So we chose for the purple one.
I then added some lighting in so i could use this for a paint over
I did this paint over using Photoshop. I thought if we didnt have enough time for the end screen we could use this for it.
