Modeling alien ship one.
I wanted to do more than just concept art for the team so I was given the task of modeling an alien ship. the alien ship below was given to a team member to model, but he seemed to be having a lot of trouble with grasping what to do so I thought I would give him a roughed out version of the ship he needed to make.
Are team started out by creating a mood-board from the designs that Simon did(are designer for the alien ships). we picked are favorite designs and then decided to merge a few of them together so that they have more similarity. we really liked the red design (bottom left off the mood-board) so we wanted that as the 1st ship. we then liked the 2nd purple design (top middle, left). so to make them similar we were going to use the front of the red ship and model it onto the front of the purple ship (see next post for this).
The image below is the model sheet created by Yasmin (team member, leed coder).
I then put this image plan into Maya and started to model the basic outline of the ship.
I only modeled one half of the ship because its the same on both sides, so to save time i could mirror it once i was happy with the design.
mirrored design.
as you can see its very basic and not very well optimized. Im still very new to modeling but enjoy it greatly.
finished model ready to use for a place holder if needed.
