Colour theory: Yoda

Colour theory: Yoda

In this workshop I was given this image below. I then had to colour both sides. the one on the right I had to use  desecrated complementary colours. The one on the left I had to use medium saturated Analogous colours.

Life drawing.

Life Drawing.

This was my final life drawing session of the year. Are model had to wear clothes for this one as someone had complained about having to draw someone who is naked......
anyway! I was very happy with how these drawings turned out.

2 min drawings.

I started to use pencil and pen for the last drawings. I have a lot more control using these.

10 mins

for these last two I only used a ballpoint pen. it was rather hard as I couldn't be to fussy with the lines I was making as I had no way of rubbing them out. But because of this I think they have come out with a really nice effect.

Rendering curved surfaces: creature paint

Rendering curved surfaces: creature paint

I was given the image below as a starting point for this lesson. we had to watch a youtube video which showed how lighting works when it hits a ball if there is one source point of light.

i grayed out the shadows where i thought the light would hit.

I then added colour by using the color layer.

Using these methods gives you a very nice and strong image by not having to do to much detail.

Speed Paint: Night Scene

Speed Paint: Night Scene

I was given this image below and told to do a speed painting on it. I was show its easier to block everything out quickly in this session and then go over it later when your happy with where everything is positioned. the positing took me a good while till I was happy with it so I didn't have much time to put much detail in. even so I am happy with how this turned out

Speed Paint: Face

Speed Paint: Face
I was given the task of drawing this quickly in one of are sessions. i ended up marking it out with the rules in photoshop and then blocking out all the main colours. i then worked in the colours with a little bit more detail but still keeping a very messy feel.

finished outcome! I was rather pleased with this one. I feel I did a good job with the proportions but i messed up the bottom part a bit.

Speed study: whaleboy

Speed study: whaleboy

In this workshop we had to do a speed painting. for the first 30 mins we had to look at a very blurred image that was very small. we then were given the larger image that was in focus.

This is as far as i got in the lesson. I was very pleased with how this came out in the end. I started to add more detail but time ran out.

Form Language; ship designs.

Form Language; ship designs.

In this session i was told to watch this youtube video; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukNI5ojXU9U and using the technique in this video i was told to design some of my own ships based on building  machines.
this was an image given to use to show us what you can do with this technique.

This was one of two sheets I did in class for this. the secound corrupted and I have been unable to get it back.

Sketching from blueprints: Star Wars speeder

Sketching from blueprints: Star Wars speeder.

In this session I was given these images and told to have a go at drawing from a blueprint image. we were shown how to do this at the start of the lesson and were told to give it a go are self's.

This was my etempt at doing this task. I am happy with how it started, all I did from this was start to refine all the edges and add the rear of the ship.

Animated sprites

Animated sprites

In this session we had animate a walking orc and female. we were given all the images for this. after we had completed this we then had to add are own images to the walking girl animation.

Below is the gif I created for the walking girl animation. I draw a arrow and made it fly into her head and added a blood effect.

Zombie Texture Map

Zombie Texture Map

We were given this texture map below in class and then we had to change the colour and texture of the jacket. I changed it to a brown colour and put a leather/ fabric texture (seen below) onto of the texture. I made it a very low opacity so its only just seen. I then found a picture of a human female face and placed it onto of the face given to us. I had to make it look like it fitted in with the old skin colour. I then placed some blood textures over the texture map so if it a zombie feel.  I also added a simple to the jacket. Its the simple from the online game Blacklight.

Fish creature concept

Fish Creature Concept

In class I was told to make a mood board of fish, after this i had to create and draw different type of creature designs using thee mood board as a guidance.

I started out by just using black and red to map out a few designs. I then used white to highlight a few areas. I thought this turned out very effective.

Tree Design!

Tree Design

I was given the task of creating a tree with character.

So I started out looking up trees and old trees.

I really liked the house that's been made to look like its part of the tree.

I then looked at trees in games to get some inspiration.

I really liked the house up against the tree so I thought I would look into who might live there, and of course I thought of pixies! So I made a mood board of images that might be useful to help me design my scene.

I then sketched out some of the things I liked the idea of.

I decided i wanted my tree to look and feel like it could be part of a kids game. So I used vibrant colours and shading. I did this in Photoshop.

After looking at this again theres a few things i would change to make this better. I would extend the page out so the tree wasnt cropped and i would also had shadow as theres not much in this drawing. I think that would help add more character to this scene and be more pleasing to the eye.

Life Drawing

Life Drawing

For this study I was told to only draw the outline of the model and draw what I saw around her.

I then did another drawing of only drawing her outline and drawing what was around her.

I then had to draw the model lying down on a mattress. This was a good exercise in proportion.

Quick three minute sketches.

For this study I was told to look at the model for 1 minute and then without looking at her again draw what I could remember. I did this by placing the model in boxes in my head and then when it came to drawing i quickly sketched out the boxes. Then I drew inside them.

The drawing below is using my left hand (my main hand is my right).

For the last two drawings I was told to get a hot and cold colour and draw the shadow using them.

In this session the model was placed in a wooden frame and we had to draw the frame before drawing the model. The last image is a quick study of my own hand at the end of the session using a ball point pen.
